Questions
- When should I use a session pass?
- When should I use a standard pass?
Solution
The main difference is that a session pass allows guests to book a session for a specific time and duration on a specific day (eg 90-min session at 10:30 AM on April 6), while a standard pass allows guests to visit your venue at any time on specific dates or recurring dates (eg general admission ticket or season pass).
Session pass
Use a session pass to sell timed activities with multiple sessions across a day. Examples include:
- 1-hour jump sessions
- Virtual reality sessions
- Laser tag sessions
- Go-kart races
You must always use session passes together with resources to manage capacity and schedules to set up and manage the days and session times available for guests to book.
Standard pass
Use a standard pass to sell general entry and admission tickets. Examples include:
- Event tickets for specific dates
- Day passes for single use (eg amusement park where guests can come and go as they please)
- Multi-passes (eg tickets that guests can redeem every Sunday for the next month)
- Season and annual passes
You can manage capacity using a resource for your standard pass. However, the resource capacity you set is for the entire day. You must also make sure you set the dates or recurring dates your standard pass is available for sale in its product settings.
