Depending on where you use our services, local laws, regulations and policies may require ROLLER to charge a form of consumption tax on top of its quoted prices. Depending on which part of the world you are located in, this tax may be known as:
- Goods and Services Tax (GST)
- Value Added Tax (VAT)
- Sales and Use Tax (SUT)
GST, VAT and SUT are collectively referred to as “tax” in this document.
Whenever such tax is charged, it will be displayed as a separate line item on your invoice.
Who needs to pay?
Tax is generally collected by the supplier (in this case ROLLER) from the customer (you). ROLLER then remits this tax to your local tax authority.
If you are a tax-exempt customer, in most cases, if we can validate the information you provide to us, we won’t charge tax on the supplies we made to you. Refer to the exemption section for further information on our exemption process.
Why am I being charged?
Many countries in the world have introduced GST / VAT/ SUT rules for sales of digital products and services, like your ROLLER subscription.
As and when applicable, ROLLER has the obligation to comply with these rules and apply tax on supplies we made to you. This means:
- We may not have collected tax from you in the past but will be required to do so now as ROLLER becomes registered to collect tax in your country; or
- We are currently not collecting tax from you but may do so at some future time as we meet the requirements to start collecting tax in your country.
In either case, we will always notify you if any changes are made to the way we charge you.
How we determine where tax is required
Tax is applied automatically depending on the physical location of your venue, and in accordance with applicable taxability laws, regulations, and policies. It is therefore critical that you provide us with the correct venue address.
For US based customers, the ZIP code of your venue's physical location will determine whether you are subject to US SUT. ROLLER uses third-party technologies to accurately determine the applicable SUT rates.
How much tax will I be charged?
Australia
If you select Australia as your country when entering your credit card details, your purchase will be subject to GST at a rate of 10%.
United Kingdom
If you select the UK as your country when entering your credit card details, your purchase will be subject to VAT at a rate of 20%.
United States
If you select the US as your country when entering your credit card details, your purchase will be subject to SUT at the prevailing rate that is based on the ZIP code of your venue.
As ROLLER’s quoted prices are tax exclusive, your invoiced amount will fluctuate with any changes to your country and/or state’s tax rates. Please note that changes to US sales tax rates are determined by local and federal authorities and are beyond ROLLER’s control.
Exemptions
In general, you will need to provide us with a valid tax exemption certificate, or other relevant information indicating that you are a tax exempt entity.
If you are located in the US certain US states offer tax exemptions for specific businesses. If you believe you qualify for an exemption but do not have the required documentation, please make appropriate representation to your state's government. Each state has different exemption criteria, different forms, and application processes. If you require advice on whether exemption is available to you in a particular state, please consult with your tax advisor. Refer to this page for further information on the US exemption process.
After you have the appropriate exemption certificate, email tax@rollerdigital.com to notify us of the exemption, making sure to include the relevant documentation. Our team will review your documentation and let you know if we can approve your sales tax exemption.
