Learn MoreIn the fast-paced world of hospitality, embracing technology is key to staying ahead, and ROLLER's mobile food & beverage ordering feature is a game-changer!
This new capability allows your guests to seamlessly place orders from their mobile devices, enhancing the dining experience for guests and taking the pressure off venue staff. To make the most of this feature, we've compiled a set of best practices that will help you optimize your menu and ensure a great experience for your guests.
Configuring your menu
A well-designed menu with good quality imagery and clear descriptions contributes to a positive guest experience and plays a crucial role in operational efficiency for food & beverage operations. We have our best practices listed below.
- High-quality imagery: A picture is worth a thousand words. Use high-quality, accurate product images to encourage your guests to order and set expectations for what they can anticipate when their order arrives.
- Compelling descriptions: Create menu descriptions that are not only enticing but also crystal clear. Avoid confusion by explicitly outlining what each item includes, reducing the need for guests to seek clarification from your staff.
- Organize with tags: Simplify the browsing experience by using tags to group your menu items. Whether it's a kids' menu, drinks, lunch specials or any other category, help your guests easily navigate your offerings.
- Customize with modifiers: Give your guests the freedom to tailor their orders. Incorporate modifiers that allow for personalization, such as choosing the kind of milk guests want in their coffee or adding extra toppings to burgers.
- Strategic add-ons: Boost your revenue per guest by offering tempting add-ons. Whether it's a side of fries or an additional beverage, encourage your customers to enhance their dining experience.
- Activate online accounts: Enable ROLLER's online accounts feature to provide your guests with a swift and seamless checkout experience. Guests can sign up for an account to save a preferred payment method. This not only allows for quicker transactions but also provides valuable data for targeted promotions.
- Logical menu structure: Structure your menu logically, ensuring guests can quickly find what they want. Consider adding your most popular items at the top of the menu to reduce checkout time.
- Set menu availability: To prevent guests from ordering from your menu while your venue is closed or unavailable for orders, configure your operating hours. If your food and beverage operations don't fully align to your operating hours, you can use stock periods to override your checkout availability.
Checkout styling and branding
Maintain brand consistency by applying your logos, product images and color schemes to your food & beverage checkout. A unified brand experience enhances trust and recognition.
By default, when you create a new food & beverage checkout, the logo, background image and colors will be taken from your venue’s brand and appearance settings.
Checkout settings
Tailor your food & beverage experience by configuring your checkout settings for a user-friendly checkout process. We have our best practices listed below.
- Table or counter service: Customize the experience to your operation by selecting whether you want to offer table or counter service. This means guests can either pick up their order from the counter when it's ready or you can deliver it straight to their table.
- Special instructions: If you want guests to be able to add instructions along with their order for added customization, use the Allow guests to add special instructions to order items option.
- Tipping configuration: If your venue uses tipping, configure the tipping option within the checkout to facilitate a seamless transaction process and maximize tips.
Setting up your QR code
Using QR codes for food & beverage ordering adds significant value by promoting contactless transactions, improving efficiency, reducing costs and enhancing the overall dining experience. We have our best practices listed below.
- QR code placement: Print and attach QR codes to each table or designated space where guests can place orders, ensuring you maximize the number of guests that use your checkout to reduce lines at the counter.
- Clear QR code title and description: Provide clarity by adding a title and description to your QR code to ensure guests understand what it is and how to use it.
- Table-specific QR codes: If you offer table service at your venue, make the ordering process as seamless as possible for your guests and create table-specific QR codes.
By implementing these best practices, you can leverage mobile food & beverage ordering to its full potential, providing a seamless, enjoyable experience for guests while optimizing operational efficiency.
