Before you can launch with ROLLER, there are some key tasks you need to complete to make sure that you can process payments successfully and implement compatible hardware.
Key tasks:
Audit your POS hardware
Whether you're purchasing new hardware or planning on using existing hardware with ROLLER, check that the POS hardware you intend to use meets minimum hardware requirements.
- If you’re purchasing new hardware, share the Minimum hardware requirements guide with your supplier so they can work with you to ensure your order is compatible.
- If you’re planning on using existing hardware, refer to the guide Audit your POS to help you identify your computer / tablet specifications and if they meet minimum requirements to run ROLLER POS.
Hardware FAQs
My computer / tablet specifications are below the minimum requirements, can I still use it?
We don’t recommend using a computer / tablet that does not meet our minimum requirements. This will greatly impact the speed and performance of ROLLER POS, resulting in a negative experience for both your POS operators and your guests.
What hardware is a POS station made up of?
Compulsory: |
Computer / tablet |
Optional (but recommended): |
|
Are iPads compatible with ROLLER?
No. This is because iPads do not run a compatible Windows operating system. If your venue uses waivers, iPads can potentially be used as Waiver Kiosks.
Can we use ROLLER without the internet? What happens if my venue experiences frequent internet dropouts?
No. ROLLER is cloud-based and requires the internet to work. Clients who have frequent internet dropouts should purchase a backup 3G/4G wifi dongle in case of emergency.
Can I set up a Cafe POS station to print dockets to my kitchen or coffee area?
Yes. See Set up production docket printing in ROLLER for more information.
Audit your card terminals
When processing card payments in ROLLER POS, you have two options when it comes to choosing card terminals:
Integrated | When processing transactions through ROLLER POS, the transaction amounts automatically appear on the card terminal for the guest to swipe, tap or insert their card. |
Unintegrated | When processing transactions through ROLLER POS, the POS operator will need to manually complete the following:
|
Integrated or unintegrated card terminals?
Will you be using integrated or unintegrated card terminals with ROLLER?
Integrated card terminals
Will you be using ROLLER Payments or a third-party card terminal integration?
ROLLER Payments card terminal integration
Have you already ordered your ROLLER Payment card terminals?
Yes, my card terminal order was included in my order form. |
If so, no further action is required here as ROLLER staff are already actioning your order. |
No, I still need to order my ROLLER Payments card terminals. |
If you still need to order your ROLLER Payments card terminals, review the ROLLER Payments terminal ordering article. When you're ready to make your order, submit a support ticket with the following information:
|
Third-party card terminal integration
If you're using a third-party card terminal integration, you need to ensure you're using a supported card terminal integration that will work with ROLLER POS in your region.
Once you've confirmed this, you will need to work with that third party to apply for a merchant account and order compatible card terminal models.
Unintegrated card terminals with ROLLER
If you're using unintegrated card terminals with ROLLER, there are no compatibility requirements.
As long as your card terminals are able to process manual payments, then the terminals can be used with ROLLER in an unintegrated fashion.
