Wristbands allow you to easily manage the flow of guests visiting your venue, and ROLLER can automate this process for you, reducing your queues and the time it takes to redeem guest tickets.
This article outlines how you can easily manage your guest wristband allocations in ROLLER to quickly collect and distribute the correct wristbands to guests upon arrival at your venue.

Learn MoreWhen to use
If you want to manage the flow of guests at your venue using paper-based wristbands, and quickly and easily see a summary of the wristbands needed for your guests at POS, then let ROLLER automate this for you.
How it works
- Add your wristband colors to Venue Manager, and they’ll be assigned based on session end times, or you can assign them to specific products.
- When you make a sale or redeem tickets at POS, you’ll be prompted on which wristband to give to your guests.
- From within POS, you and your staff can view the wristband schedule and see recently expired wristbands, as well as in progress or upcoming sessions.
- Export your wristband schedule to CSV for any third-party integrations you currently use to manage wristbands.
Create session-based wristbands
Session-based wristbands are linked to your session end-times. This means that each time a guest purchases a session pass from your venue, ROLLER will automatically determine which wristband to allocate to them and will prompt your staff with this information at POS.
You’ll need to set up your wristbands by repeating the following steps for each individual wristband your venue stocks.
- From Venue Manager, go to Products > Wristbands.
- Under Session-based wristbands, select Create wristband.
- Give your wristband a Name (usually the color or distinguishable pattern of the wristband).
- Select the Color.
- Select Apply, then Save.
For session-based wristbands, the checkbox marked Wristband rotation will be selected by default. This means your wristband schedule will automatically change each day. Keep reading for more information on daily wristband schedule changes.
If you would like your wristband schedule to remain the same each day, disable by deselecting the checkbox.
Create product-specific wristbands
You can also link your wristbands to specific products. These can include session passes, standard passes, party packages and memberships.
If you set up product-specific wristbands for session passes, then they will override session-based wristband allocation. This means that whenever these products are purchased they will always be allocated the same, specific wristband.
Follow the steps below for each product-specific wristband you would like to configure.
- From Venue Manager, go to Products > Wristbands.
- Under Product-specific wristbands, select Create wristband.
- Give your wristband a Name (usually the color or distinguishable pattern of the wristband).
- Select the Color.
- Select the Product/s that will always be allocated this wristband.
- Select Apply, then Save.
Create product exclusions
Any products you would like to specifically exclude from having a wristband allocation can be added under Product exclusions.
Select the products you want to exclude from the dropdown, and click Apply.
You can also opt to exclude a product from being allocated a wristband when you create or edit a session pass product. In Additional options for the product, simply uncheck the Allocate wristbands option.
How ROLLER automates wristband allocation
Wristband allocation is automatically configured based on your venue’s session pass schedules. ROLLER will review your session pass schedules to identify when the first session at your venue ends. ROLLER will then allocate the first wristband listed under the Session-based wristband section in Venue Manager to that session end-time.
This will repeat for each session end-time at your venue, with each subsequent session end-time allocated the next wristband listed under the Session-based wristband section. If you have multiple session pass products that share a common end time, then each of those sessions will be allocated the same wristband, as all sessions will end at the same time and all guests will depart at the same time.
For example, if wristbands in the Session-based wristbands section are listed in the following order:
- Red
- Orange
- Yellow
And your earliest session end time is 10 AM, your second is 10.30 AM and your third is 11 AM, then all sessions ending at 10 AM will be allocated a red wristband. Sessions ending at 10.30 AM will be allocated an orange wristband and so on.
The wristband schedule will then repeat from the top of the list (red in this example) if there are more session end times per day than wristbands created.
Will the same wristband be allocated at the same time each day?
When enabled, ROLLER will change the first wristband allocated each day, to prevent guests from using their allocated wristband on multiple occasions.
For example, your wristbands in the Session-based wristbands section may be listed in the following order:
- Red
- Orange
- Yellow
- Green
On Monday, your first session end time will be allocated a red wristband (with subsequent wristbands following on down the list: orange, then yellow, etc). But on Tuesday, the first wristband allocated will be the orange wristband (with subsequent wristbands following on down the list: yellow, then green, etc). This rotation will occur each day during the week but will reset back to the top of the list each Monday.
If you would like your wristband schedule to remain the same each day, you can disable the rotation in the session-based product settings.
Distribute wristbands at POS
When your guests purchase or redeem tickets at POS, ROLLER will automatically notify staff with a list of which wristbands to get ready for guests.
View your wristband call sheet in POS
You can view your wristband call sheet in POS, and see which wristbands have recently expired, as well as those in progress or coming up.
- From POS go to More > Wristbands.
- This will bring up the wristband call sheet.
You can use this call sheet to announce upcoming or expired wristbands, or check that guests with expired wristbands have left the venue.
Export wristband schedule
If you want to export your weekly wristband schedule, or if you’d like to see an overview of your wristband schedule, then you can export this via Venue Manager, following the steps below.
- Go to Products > Wristbands.
- In the top, right-corner of the page, click Export wristband schedule.
- You are then able to access your schedule as a downloaded CSV file.
The wristband schedule export will show your wristband schedule for the current week (Monday to Sunday).
You may also want to provide your schedule to third-party integrations to automate your wristband announcements.
