This article outlines the hardware compatibility and minimum performance requirements for ROLLER.
Internet requirements
Internet connectivity is critical to the performance of ROLLER applications. A reliable, high-speed connection will ensure you achieve optimal performance.
ROLLER recommends that you:
- Install a primary DSL or cable connection with a minimum download and upload speed greater than 20 MB per second.
- Purchase a back-up wireless internet dongle or device for emergencies where your primary internet connection is disrupted.
WiFi versus cabled connections
We recommend that network cabling is installed and all devices are connected to a local area network via network switches in order to connect them to the internet.
However, if WiFi is implemented to connect devices to the internet, a commercial-grade WiFi system should be installed. Home routers and WiFi access points are not suitable for business data volumes.
Testing internet performance
- Navigate to www.speedtest.net on the device you wish to test.
- Select Go or Start to commence the test.
- Compare the results to the above minimum download and upload speeds.
Browser compatibility
ROLLER apps are browser-based applications that have been designed, built and tested to work on Google Chrome.
ROLLER strongly recommends using Google Chrome for best performance and reliability.

Receipt and docket printers
ROLLER Point of Sale (POS) and Self-Serve Kiosk (SSK) support printers that meet the following requirements:
- Must be under 5 years old for compatibility and reliability reasons.
- Must have a paper roll width of 80mm.
- Must have a USB or Ethernet connection. Production management is supported by Ethernet connection only (or WiFi).
- If used with a cash drawer the printer must have an RJ12 port.
Recommended models
The following models are supported by ROLLER when using production management to manage receipt and docket printing at your venue.
- EPSON TM-m30II (Ethernet)
- EPSON TM-M30III (Ethernet)
- EPSON TM-T88VII (Ethernet)
- EPSON TM-T82III (Ethernet)
- EPSON TM-U220B (Ethernet)
Production management does not currently support the printing of sticker tickets or wristbands. If your venue uses sticker printers or wristband printers, you'll need to use ROLLER Connect instead of production management.
Other receipt and docket printer models (not supported by production management)
- Epson TM-M30
- Epson TM-T88VI
- Epson TM-T88V
- Bixolon SRP - 350 III
Cash drawers
ROLLER Point of Sale (POS) connects with cash drawers via the receipt printer. Most printers support a cash drawer with an RJ12 connector. Common cash drawers we recommend are:
- APG Vasario Series
- MMF Cash Drawer Advantage
Note that the voltage required to trigger a cash drawer varies and you should check that your receipt printers output voltage meets this requirement.
Barcode scanners
ROLLER Point of Sale (POS) supports any type of 2D barcode scanner with a USB connection. Below are some examples of commonly used 2D barcode scanners:
- Zebra DS8108-SR
- Zebra DS9208
Alternate ticket printers
ROLLER Point of Sale (POS) supports several wristband, label, concert ticket and card printer solutions where guest and booking information can be printed directly from POS to this media. Note that our new production management feature does not support wristband printing in ROLLER.

Mobile check-in
With Mobile Check-in (MCI) you can lookup and verify your guest's bookings on a mobile device, and redeem their tickets without the need for a point of sale (POS). This way it behaves as a fast, lightweight, and effective point of staffed access-control, helping you to keep queues and wait-times low.
For recommended hardware please see Mobile Check-in app requirements, or to learn more about MCI please see Welcome to the mobile check-in app.
