ROLLER POS supports selling through multiple point-of-sale (POS) devices at your venue. To start selling in person at your venue, you need to create a POS device in ROLLER for each physical POS device in your venue. The number of devices you can connect with ROLLER depends on your plan.
This guide will walk through how to create a new POS device in Venue Manager, using a template, a new standalone POS device or a new POS template.

Create your POS devices
You can create POS devices using templates, which is a great option if you have multiple POS devices at your venue that sell the same products. When you need to make a change to your POS menu, simply edit the template and then the change is applied across all POS devices that use that template.
If you don't want to create a POS device using a template, you can also create standalone, individual POS devices. You can also apply a template to an existing, individual POS device and create a new template from a device.
To get started, follow the steps below.
- From Venue Manager, go to Apps > Point of Sale > Devices.
- Select Create a device at the top-right of the page.
- Then, select the device type. Keep reading to understand what each type is and how to set it up.
Select this device type to create a new device using an existing template with a pre-configured product menu.
Select the existing template you want to use from the dropdown, and select Continue.
You can now customize the new device settings. Follow the steps below.
- Enter a unique Device name (eg Reception 1, Cafe 1).
- Set the Device screen size. This determines the number of columns available in smart menus.
- Enter a starting Till float.
- [Optional] Allow mass ticket redemption. By enabling this option, you have the ability to streamline redemption of large ticket quantities at POS and bypass waiver assignment.
When this option is selected, you will also need to set a minimum quantity to allow mass redemption of tickets within a booking. - [Optional] Enable compact view. This option makes your POS tiles smaller, and allows for more products to be displayed on your POS screen. This is great for POS devices you might use in your restaurants or cafes, because more stock items are available on one screen, making it easier for your staff to put through orders.
- Link your Devices. Select Add device to choose which print stations or KDS devices this POS device should send orders to. Only one receipt printer can be assigned to a POS device.
Once you've confirmed your device settings, you can select Save, as the POS menu has already been populated by the template you've chosen.
Select this device type to create a new, individual device with a custom menu that is not synced to any template or other devices. Once you've set this individual device up, you can also create a new template from it.
You can customize the new device settings by following steps 1-5 from New device using a template above.
Then you can create your custom menu by following the steps below.
- Select Add menu.
- Enter a Menu name (eg Memberships) and select an icon from the dropdown.
- Select Add products.
- You can use the search bar to find the products you want to add your new menu, and select the ones you want to add.
- Select Done.
- Repeat steps 1 to 5 for any other menus you wish to add to this POS device.
- Select Save.
Select this device type to create a new template that you can use to sync menus across multiple POS devices. If you don't already have a template set up, this option is recommended.
Edit your POS devices
If you want to edit the menu for a POS device that's linked to a template, edit the menu from within the template, not the individual POS device. Any changes to the template device then syncs across all devices linked to the template.
Edit a device template
To edit a POS device template, follow the steps below.
- From Venue Manager, go to Apps > Point of Sale > Templates.
- Select the options menu (3 dots) at the end of the template row and select Edit.
- Select Unlock to edit in the top-right corner of the page.
- Make your changes. To learn more, read the guide Manage your POS menus.
- Select Save once done.
Edit an individual device
To edit an individual POS device that's not linked to a template, follow the steps below.
- From Venue Manager go to Apps > Point of Sale > Devices.
- Select the options menu (3 dots) at the end of the device row and select Edit.
- Edit your device settings, then select any menu sections you wish to edit and select Unlock to edit menus in the top-right corner of the page.
- Make your changes. To learn more, read the guide Manage your POS menus.
- Select Save once done.
Apply a template to an existing device
You can apply (or re-apply) a template to an existing device. This updates all menus in the device with those in the template. To do so, follow the steps below.
- From Venue Manager, go to Apps > Point of Sale > Devices.
- Select the options menu (3 dots) at the end of the device row.
- Select Apply template from the dropdown.
- Select the template you wish to link to the device.
- Select Apply.
- Confirm that you want to update all menus in the device with those in the template.
The device is now linked to the template.
Create a template from an existing device
You can create a template from an existing device. To do so, follow the steps below.
- From Venue Manager, go to Apps > Point of Sale > Devices.
- Select the options menu (3 dots) at the end of the device row.
- Select Create template from device.
- Select Save.
Duplicate a POS device
If you have multiple POS devices that use the same sales menus, we recommend creating a POS template (Pro plan), then creating your POS devices from the template.
This way, when your products and menus change, you only have to update the POS template, and changes are automatically applied to all POS devices using the template.
Once you have created one POS device from a template, you can duplicate it and create other POS devices in minutes! Follow the steps below.
- From Venue Manager, go to Apps > Point of Sale > Devices.
- Scroll to the device you want to duplicate.
- Select the options menu (3 dots) at the end of the device row, then choose Duplicate.
- Give your new device a name (it must be a unique name).
- Select Duplicate device.
