Stock products can be used to sell physical goods that require inventory tracking, such as food, beverages and merchandise (eg pizza, coffee, and T-shirts). Stock can also be used as add-ons to upsell guests when they purchase products online.
This guide shows you how to create a stock product including any varieties and how to manage stock with limited quantities.
Create a stock product
- From Venue Manager, go to Products > Create product.
- Select Stock.
- Add the product details, any varieties and set up the production printer. See below for the options you can customize for your stock items.
- Select Save.
Add the product details
- Enter a name.
The name can describe the category of stock if you want to have multiple varieties under the one stock product. For example, Coffee or Jump Socks. See below for defining the varieties.
- Upload an image.
- We accept JPG and PNG formats up to 1 MB in size. The image is cropped to an aspect ratio of about 5:3. The best image size to upload is 640 x 390 pixels.
- Click Upload File and select the file from your desktop.
- Pull and drag the crop marks to frame your image. Anything with a dark overlay will be cropped out.
- Click Save.
- (Optional) Select a pre-defined product category.
- (Optional) Customize the tax.
This is automatically set to the default in Settings > Account > Taxes & fees, but you can customize for each item you create from other preset options.
Create any varieties
Pro feature and above
Create different varieties for your stock products with a Pro plan and above. To unlock, contact your account manager or the support team.
Pricing pageVarieties reflect the size or flavor of variations. For example:
-
Name of product: Coffee
- Variety name: Small
-
Variety name: Large
-
Name of product: Fountain Soda
- Variety name: Pepsi
- Variety name: Lemonade
To create a variety:
- Set the variety name and price.
- If you have an unlimited quantity, check the box. Otherwise set the Qty on Hand and PAR levels (the minimum amount of crucial inventory to keep on hand).
- To add another variety, select Add another variety and repeat the steps 1 & 2 above.
If you add a variety by mistake, select the Delete (trash icon) button.
Configure advanced settings for each variety
For each variety, select the options menu (3 dots) to configure any advanced settings:
- Add a variation image for the particular variety (this image displays in POS only).
- Set a user defined cost. Use this option if you want to enable POS operators to enter a price for the stock product you're creating.
- Override the reporting category (GL code) to add a specific category for the variety.
- Assign a Barcode ID to each variety. You can scan the Barcode ID directly into this text box or type it in manually.
- Add the Cost of Goods (COGS) for each variety. You must enter this if you'd like to use the Cost of Goods report, which shows the sales and associated costs of stock items.
Set up the printer (optional)
Set up the printer for the production dockets to print to.
- Go to your computer's Control Panel.
- Find out the exact name of your printer and enter it into the field.
- If you use this setting, enable the Production dockets setting in your POS device settings.
Save the stock product
When finished, select Save.
- To sell online as an add-on to an existing pass product, link the stock-item as an add-on in the product's advanced settings. Then add the pass product to the checkout and POS.
- To sell as a standalone product online, add your stock item to the progressive checkout.
- To sell at your venue, add your stock item to a POS menu.
