This article shows you how to create and manage product categories. They are an important step when setting up your venue initially.
Product categories are used to group similar products together. They allow you to:
- Group your products on the progressive checkout products page
- Easily set up and manage products in your progressive checkout
Product categories also help you:
- Quickly find what you're looking for when creating new bookings in Venue Manager
- Search & filter for products & bookings using the daily capacity, calendar and runsheet views in Venue Manager
Product categories are completely different to your reporting categories and have no impact on any of your reporting data.
Create a new product category
From Venue Manager, go to Products > Categories:
- Click + Create category
- The category panel appears
- Enter the category name
- Search for and select the products for the category
- Click Save
Add a new product to an existing category
From Venue Manager, go to Products > Categories:
- Click the existing category you want to add a new product to
- The category panel appears
- Search for and add the product
- Click Save
You can also add products to the categories you've already created here when configuring a product settings.
Remove a product from an existing category
From Venue Manager, go to Products > Categories:
- Click the exiting category you want to delete a product from
- The Category panel appears
- Click the trash can icon next to a product to remove the category
- Click Save
You can also remove products from their predefined categories by editing a product's settings.
Delete a product
From Venue Manager, go to Products > Categories:
- Click the more options menu (3 dots) for the category you want to delete
- Select Delete from the drop-down
- Click Save
